| I understand music well but never learned, its like any other sport need practice. I bought this for my 10 year old son school music class. The body is strong & well built. The Reed lock was slipping & I rough up the surface to stay in place. Screw for the lock may wear out soon. Thumb rest screw was not long enough. Looking for it. It looks hard to blow for him may be needs right read strength. Attaching parts takes much efforts in the beginning after applying the included grease which in turn makes slippery. over all good product. |

| I purchased this for my daughters first year of band. While she managed to get through the year ok- the clarinet was very difficult to blow for some reason. Even her teacher agreed - he switched mouthpieces with his own and tried it out and found it was difficult for him too. Now that she has decided to stick with band, I will have to buy another new clarinet this year - of higher quality I guess. |

| My daughter has played an expensive school clarinet for a year. I've decided to buy this clarinet for her birthday. I gave it to her prematurely to make sure everything was in order. However, immediately I could hear it didn't sound as great as her school clarinet, too much noise and harder to make notes. She tried to make higher notes and they simply didn't work. She has played very well for 1 year so it shouldn't be lack of experience. Maybe, it was just a defective instrument? I was so happy to buy it because the reviews were decent. I don't know what to think but I have returned it and decided to ask daughter's music teacher for advice. |
Can't Play a Lick

I should say that I've never picked up a clarinet before, and have no proven musical ability. It looked nice, but the thing was so hard to blow air through that I thought it had to be defective. After a week or so I sold it to someone with clarinet experience, and she said the instrument was great!
I therefore gave this a neutral 3-star rating. If you've never played a wind instrument before, take it from me, you'll need professional instruction -- before you buy anything. If you already know how to play the clarinet, this is apparently a good value for beginners or perhaps even intermediates. |
