| Bought this for my son for beginner band. He has a used YAS-23 which has served him well, but his enthusiasm for playing deserved a new instrument. The used one is Japanese made, the new one Chinese. I can find no discernible difference between the two other than age. The case on the new one has been updated slightly to address some cradling issues, but otherwise no difference. Both instruments play very well and produce the same sound, all parts seem identical and interchangeable. The woodwind tech at our local music store recommended this instrument over all others as a beginner instrument for its overall tone, ease of playing, and ease of maintenance and adjustment. Parts availability is also a plus. I have been a musician for a long time and Yamaha's quality and consistency across all products seems to be a company standard. They make great motorcycles, also!. Musical Instrument Haven Storefront creamed the competition on price for this new instrument by $276.00 ($1399 + shipping) and shipped promptly and securely, backed by Amazon's protection policy. |
Best student sax out there in my opinion

Yamaha YAS-23 if made in Japan or US is the best student sax out there. I have heard some are also made in china and are not as good. i do not know if that is true or not--but good to know so you can find out before you buy. The instrument has a serial number and stamp from where it is made.
prior to this brand/model, my daughter played a Jupiter alto saxophone. in comparison to that one, this one is easier to move air through, squeeks less, and makes a much better sound. |
