The following article teaches you a great little chord change you can use over and over again in many situation and should definitely be added to your bag of tricks. You should start to build up this bag of tricks right away even if you are not yet at a level to be able to play them. If the correct building blocks are in place then there is no reason why you should not become a great player. This sequence is really effective but it does assume you have some understanding of playing the guitar.

Play an ‘A major’ chord in the open position using your 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers. Play one bar with all down strokes and on the beat.

Without the proper posture, playing guitar for long periods of time can cause back strain. Here are a couple of tips about holding your guitar in the correct fashion. Pick up the guitar so that the back of the guitar rests against your stomach. If you play right handed the neck of the guitar should be aiming towards the left. Gently rest the body of the guitar against your upper right thigh. You should hold the guitar neck with your left hand and drape your right arm over the body of the guitar so that your hands can easily reach the strings. Your position should feel both comfortable and natural while you are playing guitar.

If you’re a right handed person you will use the left hand for constructing chords. The fingers of the left hand are bent and you will be pressing down on the strings on the fret board.

With an inverted guitar for lefties, it should be done in an inverted way too. Noting that your last string would be on top and the fret would remain the same. Things are difficult if you have no guitar to practice with. Make it a point that you follow what the diagram shows and not making the mistake of strumming the forbidden strings in each chord.

This type of technique is difficult, indeed. So start with those chords that only require three or three fingers at the moment. Basic chords like CAGED or some minor details. When you get the hang on it, try working on the harder ones. Do not saturate yourself with learning the hard ones first. That would be enough reason for you to give up. Frustrated.

But if you find it really hard to cope with this kind of style, settle with the conventional way of playing. That is, playing a right handed guitar right handed even though you’re left handed.

Some people may think otherwise, but in truth learning to play the guitar is pretty easy. The only thing that you need to do is learn where to start, and the proper place to start is by learning the different parts of a guitar. There aren’t that many parts in an acoustic guitar, so we’ll go over them fast:

6. The headstock is located at the top of the neck. You may not know it by name but if you have seen a guitar you know exactly what it is. This is where the tuning keys are, and they are used to keep the guitar sounding right.

7. Tuning keys are the metal tabs which you’ll see on the headstock itself. This is where the other end of the strings is situated, and you can use the tuning key to change the tone. This is usually referred to as keeping the guitar tuned.

So those are the basic parts of the guitar. After you have learned that you will need to learn to keep good posture while playing, that way your instrument will sound great when you play! Next we will tell you exactly how to accomplish that.

For right handed players: The first thing that you need to do is sit down, and make sure that one of your knees is slightly raised to support the guitar. Hold the neck with your left hand, and strum the guitar with your right hand. This is a standard posture that nearly all guitar players use, and if you’re still not entirely comfortable, you can use a strap to secure the guitar.

If you are not right handed, then you are obviously left handed, and there is a specific way to do that as well. You need to make sure that you are comfortable first of all, and because of that you are free to sit in any way you want. All you need to do is reverse the posture of the right hand player and everything will be fine, just try it out a little, try a few different cords, and see what feels right.

In this essay, I am going to apply a number of the Principles of Correct Practice to a technical area that is of major concern to players. For beginners, it poses one of the most challenging difficulties, and an incomplete appreciation of it’s difficulties dogs many an advanced player (sometimes without them being aware of it).

Of course you will be working on many guitar skills: various guitar techniques, chords, scales, soloing, etc., but don’t neglect other skills that are not guitar specific like, ear training (also called aural skills), songwriting, improvising, creativity, reading, music theory, etc.

As I have said, some people become paralyzed, afraid to play, afraid of undoing work done in practice sessions by what they do when they play. And for those who play professionally, it is of course, absolutely necessary that they continue to play, even if they are doing “remedial” work on their technique.

Teaching yourself is the best way to be original?. This is so obviously false its hard to believe that anyone could actually believe it – yet some people still do. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking this is the best way to learn.

There are many of us that share the same dilemma, but by knowing what to practice in those short moments of time you can maximize your effort. If you can’t tell the difference between good and bad tuning you can always use a guitar tuner.

It is quite difficult to find cheap guitars that can meet those criteria, especially for beginners. Choose one that feels right in your hand and don’t pay attention too much on the guitar appearance. You don’t need a fancy good looking guitar. It may fool you easily.
